The store has natural products for mom and baby. Cloth diapers,
baby carriers, breastfeeding supplies, organic clothing, wooden/organic toys,
children's books, natural parenting books, natural feeding supplies, glass
bottles, and more! Emily says that she started the business because it was
impossible to find and buy cloth diapers in Metro Detroit, there was a void that needed
to be filled. The business was originally started as an online store and grew into a brick and mortar location as well.
Modern Natural Baby is unique because they are one of very few natural baby
stores in Metro Detroit and they have the largest selection of cloth diapers in
the area. They also offer classes on cloth diapering, baby wearing and
breastfeeding.
Emily says that some advice she would give to other women who are interested in starting their own business would be to "put the money you make back into the
business, that is the only way you will grow and be successful." She says that she hasn't taken a paycheck to this day, and the store has been open for 3 years.
